LLDA Objectives

We aim to be the key agent for change and development across London's Libraries.  Our ten main objectives are:

  • to play a key role in developing the evidence and arguments for the contribution libraries make to London, in terms of the impact libraries have on social inclusion, economic regeneration, education, cultural activities and the involvement of London's citizens with civic issues
  • to create and update advocacy materials and guidance to support a range of library champions
  • to act as a single entry point for those interested in working with and through libraries
  • to forge partnerships with a range of London-wide organisations
  • to represent libraries on London bodies, to advise such bodies, and to respond on behalf of libraries to discussions and documents
  • to work with other information service providers to promote co-operation, collaboration and joint enterprise within our sector across London
  • to work within the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council's Framework for the Future to establish cross-domain partnerships
  • to support local managers, elected members and other stakeholders to improve the quality of local library services
  • to act as a source of advice, information and expertise for stakeholders, and promote examples of best practice
  • to stimulate debate and discussion about libraries amongst those working in local and central government, academia, elected members and library users
